Lubecote 240 "Moly"

Molybdenum Disulphide Coatings (commonly referred to as “Moly” or “Molybond”) are low film build, anti-corrosive, dry-film lubricants, made up of flexible resins and Molybdenum Disulphide (MoS2), and can be applied over just about any metallic surface including stainless steel. Moly coatings are thermally cured and bonded to the substrate metal.

Our most popular “Moly” coating is Lubecote 240 and is widely used in a variety of different applications, anything from stainless steel fasteners for anti-galling purposes right through to large off-shore components that require corrosion protection and/or lubrication.

Typical Characteristics

  • Salt Spray Resistance up to 500 hours (ASTM B117)
  • Load Capacity up to 250,00 psi (ASTM 2625 B)
  • Low co-efficient of friction
  • Anti-Sieze, dry film lubricant
  • Very good resistant to acids
  • For use in up to 150C temperatures
  • Matte Grey appearance
  • Film thickness between 10-30 microns
  • Permissible for use on all steels, including stainless
